LISTOWEL – The first arrival of 2012 was born at Listowel Memorial Hospital last week on a cold, but clear night.
Skylar Cade Huber was born to parents Darren and Stephanie on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 3:29 a.m., weighing 7 lbs. 10 oz. Darren explained that Skylar wasn’t due until Jan. 13, and that even though the family’s two previous children arrived early, there was no expectation to be the first baby of the year at Listowel.
“We were hoping it would wait until the new year, he said. “We definitely didn’t think it would be the New Year’s baby.”
The trip to the hospital that night was clear but cold for the Hubers, with temperatures down to -16 C. Darren and Stephanie said weather didn’t concern them, stormy or not.
“We don’t live far out of town,” he said. “We weren’t that worried about the weather,” she added.
Siblings Hudson, 5, and Keishana, 3, are excited about their new brother.
