Another Charity Golf Classic is in the books.
The Listowel Golf Club was packed on Thursday, July 15 with golfers, volunteers and celebrities, all in the name of charity.
Many notable hockey icons participated, including retired Hall of Famers and current NHL and OHL players, scouts and coaches.
CGC treasurer Jeff Sippel said the final numbers aren’t yet available, but the money raised will go towards the North Perth Sports for Kids Fund.
Entry fees, a putting competition and, most notably, an impressive silent auction all brought in funds for the foundation that assists local athletes who are unable to participate in organized sport due to registration costs or equipment purchases.
Some of the NHLers on hand included Dan Paille of the Boston Bruins, Nick Spaling from the Nashville Predators, Colorado Avalanche Ryan O’Reilly, Phoenix Coyotes draft pick Brett MacLean, Colorado Avalanche draft pick Joey Hishon, retired Montreal Canadien Gilbert Dionne, and retired Hall of Famers Harry Howell and Marcel Dionne.
Jason Brooks and Mac Nichol, North Perth residents and coach/GM and defenceman with the Guelph Storm respectively, were two local participants.
