Carl Wilken
Carl Wilken of Atwood passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the age of 84.
Carl was a member of Atwood Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and on the board of managers. He was a former member of the Independent Order of Foresters and the Atwood Fire Department and enjoyed spending time as a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society and Knollcrest Lodge. Carl was also well known as a school custodian for nearly 25 years at Listowel District Secondary School and Elma Township Public school.
Beloved husband of Betty (Inglis) Wilken, whom he married in 1957. Loving father of Carole Wilken of London, Brenda and Bryan Ames of Atwood, and Pauline and Ross Hoffman of Lucan. Special grandpa of Lindsey Ames, Josh Ames, Shelby Hoffman and Bryce Hoffman.
Dear brother of John and Marilyn Wilken of Sweaburg and Jean and Larry Clarke of Listowel, brother-in-law of Cedric Hotton of Lindsay and Alistair Inglis of Listowel. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Amsey and Amanda (Miller) Wilken, son Ronald in infancy, brothers Earl and his wife Doris and Floyd and his wife Eileen.
Carl’s family invited relatives and friends to share their memories at the Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Tuesday, July 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at Atwood Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, July 28 at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Hogerwaard officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
