LISTOWEL – Which style of new arena do you prefer?
That’s the question to be answered at three public forums next month.
Residents will get a chance to check out first-hand the four models, and the cost, for a new arena in the Listowel ward of North Perth.
Three public forums on the subject will be held in the new year, one in each ward.
The first is Jan. 12 at Parkview Gardens in Listowel, followed by the Elma Memorial Community Centre in Atwood on Jan. 24 and a tentative third date on Feb. 1 at Wallace Public School in Gowanstown.
Each forum will be relatively the same.
Fred Galloway, in charge of designing the four models and their business plans, explained what they’re hoping to accomplish.
“Three objectives: inform (the public) on the options and key information, answer their questions and to have them identify a preference of where they would like to see this go,” Galloway explained to the North Perth Recreation Complex Committee at their Dec. 20 meeting in Listowel.
The format for the public forums will be fairly straightforward. Each of the four models will be displayed on big boards during a two-hour window, from 6-8 p.m.
Galloway will go through a brief presentation on the quartet of options around 7 p.m., then he will answer questions in small groups or one-on-one.
A vital part of the evenings is the feedback portion.
People will be encouraged to fill out two-part comment cards – which model they prefer and then an open-ended question of any other comments they might have.
Members of the committee will be in attendance, but the main presentation will be executed by Galloway, an unbiased, neutral party on the subject. He does not live in the area and is not a North Perth taxpayer.... Please read more in this weeks Listowel Banner
