TORONTO – In the spirit of the holiday season, three local hockey players enjoyed a reunion of sorts.
Carter Stewart, Roland McKeown and Daniel Dekoning – all from Listowel – played minor hockey together growing up.
The trio was an intricate part of the triple-A Huron-Perth Lakers winning a Minor Bantam Alliance championship in March of 2010.
McKeown moved to Etobicoke a year-and-a-half ago and joined the Toronto Marlboros organization.
He had a chance to face his old Laker teammates on Dec. 27 at the Toronto Marlboros International Holiday Classic.
Carving up the same ice surface together brought back a flood of memories for the three 15 year-olds.
“We lined up together, I think it put a big smile on both of our faces getting back to the old days,” Stewart said.
“Definitely a lot of fun playing against my old teammates and playing against Stewy, who is like a brother, was one of those moments that you have to enjoy,” McKeown said.... Please read more in this weeks Listowel Banner
